Arriving in time for summer, the 2013 Land Cruiser
Toyota is revealing the newest iteration of the Land Cruiser today at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show. The North American debut will present the latest model in the Land Cruiser’s long history from a basic four-wheel-drive utility vehicle to a new and updated eight-passenger SUV.
Receiving a slew of updates the exterior starts with an updated front grille and headlamps with HID low-beams. Complete with LED Daytime Running Lights, chrome side molding and redesigned outer side mirrors and tail lamps.
The new Land Cruiser interior features an update in two colors: Sandstone or Black. Ventilated front seats include perforated leather trim. A higher gloss wood grain finish, brighter silver instrument- panel ornamentation, chrome-plated air registers and updated meter-cluster lighting are part of the interior refinements. The display system includes a Multi-terrain Monitor with front, side or rear selectable views, a new Multi-information Display and an Eco Driving Indicator light and zone display. The steering wheel is heated with a Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. For power, an additional 12V-DC power outlet has been installed at the rear of the center console and the rear-cargo-deck power outlet is now an AC 115V.
All features on the Land Cruiser will be standard equipment including new driving-performance components with safety and convenience aspects. A five-speed CRAWL control with Off-Road Turn Assist, Multi-Terrain Select, Multi-Terrain Anti-lock Brakes with Electronic Brake Distribution, Trailer Sway Control, Pre-Collision System and a retuned suspension are all standard safety features.
Former options now standard equipment includes the rear-seat DVD entertainment system; color-keyed rear spoiler; rain-sensing windshield wipers; center-console cooler box; headlamp cleaners; leather trimmed steering wheel; multi-information display; voice and Bluetooth hands-free controls; leather-trimmed shift lever; heated second row seats and Toyota’s Premium Hard Disk Drive Navigation with Entune multi-media system and JBL audio.
Under the Land Cruiser’s hood is a 5.7-liter V8 DOHC engine producing 381 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 401 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,600 rpm. Ninety percent of peak torque is available at just 2,200 rpm giving you the ability to tow plenty of toys for your summer activities.
